With five of our six children, their spouses and children, three of my siblings with
a niece and nephew thrown in,
we gathered this summer on the lawn for a commemorative photo
with Grandma Beth. Four generations!
From October 13, 1919, to 2011 is a very long span!
From horse-and-buggy days to being able to speak by phone to any place in the world and sound
like you are in the house next door.
It is amazing to think of all the world's changes and happenings in the past 92 years.
And Grandma Beth was there--through a World War, a Great Depression,
a Cold war, a space race, increasing terrorism, and advances in technology:
from the old Victrola to 78 rpm records, to 33 LPs, to 8-tracks, then cassettes,
then CD's and now iPods.
From movies at the theatre on Saturday afternoon to movies on TV, then VHS tapes to DVD's, to
movies on demand on the internet.
What a life!
May there be many more years.
